Dear parents/carers.

The drop off and pick up routines are going fairly well, so thank you.

We have lots of people on site at once at these times, so please make yourselves familiar with the following to make sure these are as efficient as possible - there are some tweaks, so please do take a look and share with your children, even if you are acquainted with last year's routine:

DROP OFF

  • Takes place between 8.30 and 8.45am - please do not drive in early - it causes traffic queues in Somerton.
  • Children must not exit vehicles until 8.30am when staff are on the Kiss and Drop to support.
  • Children from Y1-Y6 on the Kiss and Drop should be coming into school independently from vehicles (unless permission has been given for parent support with this).
  • Children in Wagtails and Pipits on the Kiss and Drop can come into school independently from vehicles once they feel confident to do so.
  • Please ensure any older children (Y5/6 only) making their own way to school on foot/bike/scooter are not leaving home too early - they should not arrive at the gate before 8.30am - this is for their safety.
  • Any children riding and scooting to school must wear cycling helmets.
  • All children must get off bikes and scooters at the gate and push them onto site and to the bike shed.
  • If arriving on foot, parents with children in Y1-6 go left after the school zebra crossing and round the building past the bike shed. (KS2 go in at the first stairwell by the kitchen - there will be a member of staff based there.) KS1 children and their parents can access their classrooms from this long playground.
  • If arriving on foot, parents with children in Pipits and Wagtails (and their siblings) go right after the school zebra crossing and towards the MUGA. (KS2 children go in at the stairwell at this end - there will be a member of staff based there.) KS1 children can go round with parents from here to their classrooms from the long playground
  • If accessing school by vehicle, can Owlets parents only please park in the parking bay opposite the school rather than the Kiss and Drop, when spaces are available.

PICK UP

  • Takes place between 3.15 and 3.30pm - please do not drive in early - it causes traffic queues in Somerton and blocks access to school.
  • On the Kiss and Drop, children from YR - Y6 will get to your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so. (If you are waiting, please turn off your engine).
  • Any children riding and scooting home must wear cycling helmets.
  • All children must push bikes and scooters to the gate until they are off site.
  • If arriving on foot, parents picking up children from Wagtails or Pipits ONLY go right after the school zebra crossing, along the Kiss and Drop.
  • If arriving on foot, parents picking up children from any other year groups go left after the school zebra crossing and round the building past the bike shed. KS1 children will be picked up from their classrooms from the long playground...then KS2 children from the MUGA (where relevant). Please return from the same direction, going back round the school building (not going via the Kiss and Drop - this is for safety). For parents who also have children in Pipits or Wagtails, please access the reception classrooms last from this end, via the exterior classroom gate.
  • If accessing school by vehicle, can Owlets parents only please park in the parking bay opposite the school rather than the Kiss and Drop, when spaces are available.

Many thanks for helping us keep the children safe.
