Goldfinch Class 19/01/2024

Here is a taster of what we have been doing in Goldfinch Class this week. In maths we have been looking at 3D shapes. We went on a shape hunt in the class. When we found a shape, we had to name it, then work out how many faces, edges and vertices it had. We have also been sorting them into groups. In English we have planned and written our own story based on 'The Night Dragon' book. We had a knight called Nigel who was not very brave and his brother (Sir Smelly Socks) was mean to him. But one day Nigel had to be brave and face the dragon. Instead of fighting, Nigel talked to the dragon and found out that he had toothache. So, Nigel helped the dragon instead and they became friends. We had a lovely music lesson where we used percussion instruments and sang songs about the seasons. We have been busy doing some coding work in our computing lesson, using algorithms to control items on the screen. In Science, we focussed on microhabitats and we went on a minibeast hunt. We discovered where they like to live and why.
