Goldfinch Class 31/03/2023

This week in Goldfinch Class we have finished our art unit on Frida Kahlo. We learnt about who she was and what kind of art she painted. We started by looking at a piece of her art work and mixing the three primary colours to match colours in her work. We then had a look at the backgrounds of her work and carefully mixed as many different shades of green as we could. We used these colouring mixing skills to paint a portrait of her. We also learnt about using different size brushes. We then pieced all of this learning together in a final project piece. We had to produce a background of leaves, add our portrait and then carefully paint bright coloured flowers to add to our hair. 

On Wednesday we had a Topic Day. We spent the day learning about the Iron age and how the Celtic people lived in roundhouses. We discussed how a roundhouse was discovered on our school site. We spent time learning about roundhouses and then built our own models of them.

On Thursday, the half term treat was to create some Easter crafts, thanks to the PTFA for funding this project. The children had lots of fun.
