What a fun week we have had here in Wagtail Class. This week we have looked at the story, 'Jack and the Beanstalk' as part of our 'Traditional Tales' topic. The children came into a beanstalk crime scene on Monday and instantly became detectives. All activities this week have focussed on this story. The children have; written crime reports, made wanted posters, used their knowledge of phonics to label items and planted their very own beans.
In Maths, the children have looked at teen numbers and have been practising to build these using the numicon, focusing on creating the number 10 first, they really enjoyed doing this. The Wagtails have also been doing a great job in keeping a close eye on our caterpillars and have completed the next part of their caterpillar diaries.
After lunch today, a special letter was delivered to Wagtail Class. It was from 'Jack', everyone was so excited. The children have been searching for Jack, and the missing axe from the crime scene and they were thrilled to finally find it this afternoon (with the help of the letter). They did a great job in helping me chop down the beanstalk and solve this crime.
What a fun-filled week we have had Wagtails, I hope you have a lovely weekend. From Mrs Slade
