We have had a lovely first week back in Goldfinch class. On the last day of the term, two of our chrysalis changed into butterflies. The children loved seeing them and the whole process. Mrs Hatt took the rest home over the half term holidays, and then released the butterflies.
In maths this week we have been doing statistics. So far we have learnt about tally charts, tables, block diagrams and pictograms.
In English, we have been continuing to look at stories by Oliver Jeffers. We found out some facts about him and have compared some of his books. We have also been practising our reading comprehension skills on his books.
In Topic, we have started to look at our local area. We used maps to look at what is in Somerton. We also went outside to practise our compass directions. We gave instructions to each other on where to move, using North, South, East, West, clockwise, anti-clockwise, left and right.
In Science we thought about keeping healthy by exercising. We have made predictions on what exercise would increase our heart rate, ready to carry out an experiment next week.
In computing, we have started to learn about animation and created a flip book.
