We've had another fun-filled week here in Wagtail Class. This week we have been practising our Nativity singing and I have to say, 'you're in for a real treat'.
In RE, we have consolidated our learning about ' Hanukkah'. The children also enjoyed creating 'Menorah Candlesticks' with their hands and did a great job of recalling different family traditions that take place during this time of celebration.
In literacy, we have focussed on 'Birthdays' and celebrations. We were lucky enough to celebrate a birthday in class, this helped put this learning into context. The children made party hats, wrote birthday cards and enjoyed listening to some 'Old Bear' birthday stories.
In maths, we have been looking at the composition of numbers to 5. I introduced a 'part whole' model to the children; they used objects to help them split their number into two parts. Amazing work mathematicians!
The children also did such a good job of saying 'cheese' and smiling for their first school photographs!
We were also so excited by the light snowfall this week; we decided to wrap up and go outside to explore. This was so lovely to see the children having so much fun.
We have learnt our next set of sounds in phonics and more games have been allocated on Bug Club for home learning.
What a lovely week we have had, well done Wagtail Class - amazing stuff!
Have a lovely weekend, from Mrs Slade
